This Saturday, February 23, New York City Team Handball Club (NYC THC) will be hosting the second leg of the Men’s Division 2 Northeast Team Handball League (NTHL). Six teams are competing in this Division: Boston Team Handball (BTH 2), DC Ambassadors (DCA), NYC THC 2, University of Conneticut, NYC THC 3, and Army Gold.
After the first meet, NYC THC2 and DCA led the standings with 4 points each, from two wins, while NYC THC 3 and Army Gold have 2 points each. BTH 2 and UConn are yet to earn their first points this season.
The NTHL has grown significantly this season adding a 6-team strong Division 2 and as well as a women’s division with 6 teams as well. Handball teams in the Northeast have traditionally been some of the strongest teams in the US, led by the many-times US Champions, NYC THC, former Silver and Bronze medalist Boston Team Handball, and the recent-rise of the USMA’s handball athletes. For the last two consecutive seasons, NYC, BTH and Army have taken up spots in the top-5 teams at the US national championships with NYC and BTH securing semi-finalist spots for both championships.
