About

Boston Team Handball Inc., formerly knowns as the New England Freeze, is a first division US handball club based in the Boston area. The team was first established by a group of MIT graduate students in the Fall of year 2000. The club started as an MIT student-run sport club. As the team grew bigger, and as its memebrship expanded outside the MIT community, the team spun off to become an independent entity playing in the US league.

Since then, Boston Team Handball has become one of the main handball forces on the East Coast, boasting both a competitive men’s and women’s team, with the men competing in two different levels of competition. In 2010, the Boston men’s team took home the Silver Medal at the Club National Championship hosted by USA Team Handball, while the women’s team walked away with Fourth Place. Our teams continue to strive towards greater levels of competition while still offering the opportunity for new people to join the sport. Boston is a growing group of both international and American handball talent that aims at increasing the level of competition and participation in the US.
